About the Author / Editor

Philip J. Kain received a B.A. in philosophy from St. Mary’s College of California and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of California at San Diego. He has taught at the University of California at Santa Cruz, Stanford University, and is professor of philosophy at Santa Clara University. He has written three previous books on Marx: Schiller, Hegel, and Marx (1982), Marx’ Method, Epistemology, and Humanism (1986), and Marx and Ethics (1988).
