There is need today for de-bureaucratising management and developing professional and participatory arrangements. This requires planned changes which can only be brought about by development of adequate and effective professional managerial resources. This is the main thrust of the present book. It reports case studies of participatory efforts for change and development in five organisations in important socio-economic sectors viz. education, coal, oil, construction, and metals and electricals. The author stresses the need for right leadership and proper conditions of work-both factors vital for responsive motivation, energetic activation and eager willingness to take up new challenges.
The case studies substantiate and corroborate the several common conceptual and process dimensions of planned change and development. Thus the book provides a much needed analysis which should prove to be the keynote of success in progressive organisations.
