V.K. Verma (Contributing Editors: Devesh Walia & Benidhar Deshmukh)

V.K. Verma, former Professor, Department of Geology, University
of Delhi, Delhi is a well-respected expert in the field of
Geomorphology, Sedimentology and Environmental Geology. He is regarded
as pioneer in river and basin morphometry and has made significant
contributions to the field of Geomorphology and Applied Geomorphology.
His research had opened new vistas of research activity in medicinal
geology. He has published over 125 research articles, three original
textbooks and edited seven books/monographs. He held several visiting
assignments in the USA, France, Russia, Nepal, etc. He has supervised 20
PhD and 10 MPhil students who are well placed in India and abroad. In
his honour, Earth System Sciences published a two volume set in 2009
which was very well received. Verma’s work has been cited by Dr D.N.
Wadia, in Monograph Central Asia Desiccation. He is Fellow, National
Academy of Sciences, Allahabad.
Devesh Walia is
presently Head of Department of Geology, North-Eastern Hill University
(NEHU), Shillong. He has teaching, research and administrative
experience of over three decades. His basic area of expertise is
hydrogeology, structure and tectonics of NE Indian region. He has many
research papers in reputed national and international journals to his
credit.
Benidhar Deshmukh is a Professor of Geology in the
School of Sciences, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi.
He has over 25 years of research and teaching experience. His research
interests lie in the application of geospatial technologies for
understanding geo-environmental processes and natural resources
management, and also in geoscience and geospatial education.
