“Peasants, Environment and Sustainable Development” is a collection of research papers written by the author over three decades from 1974 to 2008. About the Author / Editor

Jayawant B. Ambekar is Professor of Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Shivaji University, Kolhapur, Maharashtra. Earlier, he has also worked in various research and educational organizations such as the Anthropological Survey of India, Mysore (1972-74), Satellite Instructional Television Experiment (SITE) Project, Indian Space Research, CSSIBER, Kolhapur (1980-83).

Professor Ambekar visited many countries for presenting research papers in international conferences and also conducting research. His areas of interest are community studies, communication, environment and Development. He is the author of “Communication and Rural Development” (1992), editor of “Agricultural Communication and Sustainable Development” (2008) and co-editor of “NGOs and Development” (2004).
