Amiya Kumar Das obtained Bachelor of Architecture from Maharaja Sayaji Rao University, Baroda; Master of City Planning from IIT, Kharagpur; and Master of Science in Planning from Florida State University, USA. He worked as an Assistant Town Planner for the Government of Assam 1967 to 1969 and moved to the United States, where he worked in an architectural firm; as a home builder; and in the Florida state Government. He retired in 2004. He worked in the fields of architecture, home design and construction, comprehensive planning, housing research, community development, and building codes. Besides a couple of books, Das is the author of about three dozen of articles on various subjects and published in several newspapers.
