About the Book
Besides providing a conceptual framework to the subject, the book addresses myriad issues such as social work and its future, fieldwork and emerging issues with domain, fieldwork and its emerging trends in India today. It also focuses on the future trends of the society and its systems because of the effect of globalization, urbanization, privatization, etc. and also the role and existence of social work profession today.
Whether social work in India must follow the indigenous model and reject those which are not related to our culture? Whether professional associations should be so motivated as to make them work for the upliftment of social work profession in India? Whether such efforts may involve more workshops to identify and generate indigenous teaching materials, updating the present database, more practice based creative writings, enhancing interaction between social work educational institutions and field practitioners? Sanjoy Roy is Reader in Social Work, Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Besides All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, he has also worked in different universities like Assam University (Central), Silchar, Delhi University, and CSJM University, Kanpur. He has published both books and articles in the area of social work and social development.
