About the Book

Unemployment and its consequences is one of the worst social problems facing the world today. Increasing globalisation, making it easier to export jobs, is only adding to the problem. The biggest battalions in the reserve army of the unemployed are young people and those in ‘late career’. Focusing on the former, the study summarises and evaluates the growing body of research findings on the consequences of unemployment on leisure, family and lifestyle. It shows how victims are in an unfortunate situation experiencing material and psychological deprivations and how it affects health and lifestyles of young people.
