About the Book

In recent years, health related research in anthropology have been looking for ways to extend the approaches that focus on the cultural and social context of human behaviour. Anthropology could play in the development of public health policy with extensive research based on meticulous fieldwork which includes various methods used in physical and social anthropology for data collection.
The discipline is well-positioned to play a key role in addressing health issues in positive direction. The book connecting anthropology and health deals with the perspectives of clinically applied anthropology and associated paradigms as a framework for a better understanding of health and ethos. Using the anthropological method and interpretative analysis, contributions in this volume indicate that the construction of the meaning of health by individuals is central and overlaps with biomedical causality and rationality.
