About the Book
The book presents a comprehensive picture of agriculture in Andhra Pradesh. It is an enquiry into the structure and the functioning of three farm-size categories (small, medium and large) in two districts of Andhra Pradesh, differing strikingly in their technology levels of agriculture, one hailing from technologically advanced region and the other from backward region.
From the vast data collected, the study brings out the variations and differences between the two regions and across the three farm-size groups in regard to the land use, the stock and composition of fixed capital, the intensity of resource use, the farm efficiency, and finally the pattern of employment, income, poverty and consumption, Also, it presents some of the policy implications from the study.
The important thing about the book is that it analyzes the relative advantages and disadvantages of small farmers compared with medium and large ones, both in the technologically advanced and lagging regions.
